Many wineries specialize in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These wines do particularly well here because of the moderating lake effect and the tendency of these wines to pick up the characteristics of the soil, bringing unique flavours.

Prince Edward County is still a relatively young wine region with winemakers doing innovative things with Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Gamay, Pinot Gris, Baco Noir and, Merlot wines.

WINE VARIETIES
  • Red: Gamay, Merlot, Pinot Noir
  • White: Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris
  • Rose': Cabernet Franc
  • Dessert: Vidal
  • Sparkling: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
What is the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association?
The Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association (PECWA) was formed in 2000 as a Not for Profit Organization. PECWA's mission is the growth and promotion of Prince Edward County as a wine region. PECWA represents both the grape growers and wineries alike. This is achieved through advocacy, market development, special events, education and mutual support.
